The Secrets to Finishing What You Start
Trouble sticking to your health and weight loss goals? We've got just what you need. With this month's featured motivation quick tips, you'll not only have what you need to start improving your health but also see the process to the very end.

WHAT WILL YOU GAIN?
Everyone wants to live a healthier life, but what's your reason? People often fail to uncover the root of their desires, which makes it nearly impossible to keep the motivation going strong. Only when you get to the bottom of why you want to improve you health can you tap into an internal drive that won't quit.

Action Steps: Spend five to ten minutes thinking about one thing: What is the single most important gain you will make by improving your health? When you've got it, write it down on three sheets of paper - one for the home, one for the office, and one for the car (for the times when your fast food cravings need to be put in check.)

WHAT WILL YOU LOSE?
The flip side of the picture is just as important to helping you stay committed to your goal. Not what will you gain from success, but what will you lose if you don't see your health goals through to the end. The answer to that question, if strong enough, can keep even the greatest temptations at bay.

Action Steps: Spend five to ten minutes thinking about the greatest price you will pay if you don't achieve your health or weight loss goal. Will it lead illness or disease? Lost time with your family? An example you'd never want to set for your children? When you have it in mind, add it to your three slips of paper from above.

WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE?
You've got your strongest incentives in hand, but still that's not always enough, is it? If people are good at anything, it's reasoning their way out of - or into - trouble. So what's your excuse for not sticking with the plan? How do you rationalize your way out of eating healthy, exercising, etc.?

Action Steps: Dedicate as much time as you need to pinpoint the three biggest excuses you use for not sticking with your health goals. After writing them down on a new sheet of paper, counter each with an excuse-buster. Why are your reasons empty actually empty excuses? When you shine the truth on them, your excuses will no longer be able to hold you back from success.

The next time the urge to give up or give in hits, turn to your lists for the motivation you need to finish what you've started.
